Something that I’ve always found missing from Kindle, Nook, and other eReaders, has been the lack of colour display. Avid book readers may tout that this isn’t a requirement to get a “realistic” literature feel to your experience, however there’s a large untapped market that suffers at the hands of these B&W devices. Essentially every piece of print where vibrant colours are a necessity when it comes to grabbing their audience suffer.
The iPad provides a saving grace for the fading magazine industry, not to mention opens up doors to normal size viewing for graphic novels, comics, manga and other image based books. So I say so long viewing the newest Marvel digital versions on a laptop or Bleach! manga on my tiny Moto Droid screen! Goodbye web only versions of magazines!
If anything iPad can help revive the dying “print” market or even revolutionize it in a way that internet versions of the same publications have fallen short when it came to consistent readership and quality content.
Over the last few days I’ve been debating the benefits of the iPad for everyday use. I know I’m somewhat of a Apple fangirl, but I really think my ideas of how it will make life better are endless.
So in honor of the upcoming release of the iPad, I will be doing 60 days of iPad Possibilities. A tribute to the many uses that people may or may not have thought of.
I admit, when I initially watched/listened to the keynote, this was me on the inside. But I can officially say that the Stan-like enthusiasm is gone and now purely reasonable optimism for a very revolutionary product.
There will be a contest related to this little campaign of mine called “The 61st Idea”. I’ll work out the kinks for the prizes and rules. So stay tuned for that!
I recently had an incident involving the Pacific Ocean and my Moto Droid. I placed my insurance claim for my replacement, which arrived today. Now that its here, I have to figure out which free apps i had on it and hell if I even need em. So…
